Defending champion, Italy were held to a 1-1 draw by South American, Paraguay. The Azzurris were trailing until a goalkeeping error let them back into the game.
Paraguay opened the scoring through entre-back Alcaraez who came up from the back for the freekick and outjumped his marker De Rossi to head home.
De Rossi equalised in the second half after meeting Pepe's delivery at the back post and bundles the ball in from close-range. Paraguay's keeper Villar came out to collect the ball and got nowhere near it.
