Penang beat Perlis 1-0 to claim a spot in the final 16 of the Malaysia FA Cup. The home side played a good game but failed to find the net in the first half. Perlis defended solidly and both teams went into the break with cleansheets.

Penang returned for the second half with a little tactical change in their attacking strategy. It finally paid-off when Mohd Faiz Subri broke the duck in the 70th minute.

Perlis tried harder to find an equalizer, but the Panthers held tight to keep the score. The goal was enough for Penang to cruise into the next round.
