YOUNG SAMURAIS BEAT VIETNAM IN AFC QUALIFIERS

​AFC U-23 QUALIFIERS: JAPAN 2 - VIETNAM 0  

Shoya Nakajima scored a double as Japan beat Vietnam 2-0 in their second AFC U-23 Championship 2016 qualifying match at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday. Japan proved their status as favourite for the championships from the start of the Group I second round match, giving Vietnam no space from the kick-off.

​The samurais launched continuous attacks while Vietnam struggled to stop the threat, and 22-year-old Nakajima opened the score in the 43rd minute. Nakajima and teammate Takumi Minamino combined to slot the ball past Vietnamese goalkeeper Phi Minh Long. Huynh Tan Tan of Vietnam nearly equalised just one minute later in a rare opportunity, but his shot went wide.

​After the break, things looked better for coach Toshiya Miura side as they limited Japan's attacks. However, Japan secured victory in added time as Nakajima took his opprtunity brilliantly.

In another qualifying match, Malaysia recorded their first win after defeating Macau 2-0. Syahrul Azwari Ibrahim and Wan Ahmad Amir Zafran scored to keep their hopes alive.

MALAYSIA CRASH, VIETNAM FLYING HIGH

​​AFC U-23 QUALIFIERS: MALAYSIA 1 - VIETNAM 2 

Vietnam stunned Malaysia in the opening Group I match of the AFC Under-23 Championship qualifiers at the Shah Alam Stadium last night. The home side went down 1-2 and their Olympic hopes are now in tatters.

Coach Razip Ismail's team started out brightly. Skipper Mohd Nazirul Naim's free-kick in the 33rd minute gave Malaysia the lead.

​Vietnam responded brilliantly and took just five minutes to equalise. Vo Huy Toan beat Farhan after receiving a perfect pass from Nguyen Cong Phuong. And Vietnam took over the lead in the 43rd minute after Nguyen Cong Phuong beat Malaysian defenders to send the ball into the back of the net.

Malaysia tried to get back into the game in the second half, but the visitor held on tightly to secure the valuable win.

​​In the another match earlier, Japan thrashed Macau 7-0. Malaysia must beat Macau on Saturday and Japan on Tuesday if they want to get through to the AFC Under-23 Championship in Qatar next year. From there, only the top four will play in the Olympics.

MALAYSIA TO FACE LIVERPOOL IN BUKIT JALIL

​Liverpool FC have announced that they will be coming to Malaysia in July 2015 as the part of pre-season tour. The Reds will meet the Malaysian XI at Bukit Jalil Stadium on Friday, July 24.

Liverpool legend Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler has promised a football feast for the fans and Malaysian selection. FAM general-secretary Dato' Hamidin Haji Amin has expressed his honoured and are greatly exited for the upcoming match.

​As for National coach Dollah Salleh, this match will be an opportunity in preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers which schedule later this year.

JDT II BEAT KEDAH IN ALOR SETAR

​MALAYSIA FA CUP: KEDAH 0 - JDT II 1

Kedah failed to progress into the FA Cup quarter final after being knocked-out by JDT II at Darulaman Stadium on Tuesday. No goals were scored in the first half of the game despite an energetic performance by the home team.

Baddrol Bahtiar missed an open chance in the 14th minute, and JDT II's best chance came in the 33rd minute but Leandro Sebastian was unable to find the back of the net, thus ending the match with no goals at halftime.

​JDT II showed a little improvement in the second half. More chances were created, but Kedah held on tightly. Muhammad Akram silenced Kedah fans with his long range attempt in 88th minutes to seal the victory for JDT II.

Kedah tried to find the equalizer but JDT II were already in defensive strategy. Time ran out for Kedah, and JDT II passed the Darul Aman test. Waiting for  JDT II at quarter final will be the winner of the match between Lions XII or KL SPA Putrajaya.

PENANG QUALIFY TO FA CUP QUARTER FINALS

​​MALAYSIA FA CUP: NS MATRIX 1 - PENANG 2

NS Matrix failed to take the advantage of playing on their home ground after losing to Penang 1-2 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium on Tuesday. Despite taking an early lead, the home side could not deny the Panthers domination.

Just three minutes after kick-off, Shahrizal Mohd Saad put NS Matrix in front after a good one-two play with Francis Forkey Doe. The goal boosted the team's confidence, but Penang was also quick to react on the early setback. Alberto Goncalves Da Costa was brilliant to beat NS defenders and launched a powerful shot to beat goalkeeper Mohd Helmi Eliza in the 12th minute.

​​Both team fails to add more goals and the result remain 1-1 until end of the first half. While both team searching for more goals, Lee Gil-hoon put a cheer on The Panthers. The South-Korean effort in 80th minutes ensures Penang moved to quarter final with 2-1 win.

JDT HELD BY SIME DARBY

​​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SIME DARBY 1 - JDT 1

Sime Darby stunned star studded Johor Darul Takzim after holding them at the Selayang Stadium on Saturday. The winless home side collected their first point in the 1-1 draw with last season Super League Champions.  

​Sime Darby took the lead in the 35th minute through Muhammad Nazrul Kamarulzaman. Nazrul tapped-in Nemanja Vidakovic effort just four minutes after he was introduced into the game to replace the injured Mohd Firdaus Azizul. JDT doubled their efforts in search of the equaliser but Sime Darby held on until the break.

​Bojan Hodak sent in Mahali Jasuli to provide more attacking options. JDT finally got the equalizer on the hour mark when Junior Eldstal fired in Mohd Amri Yahyah's cross. The Southern Tigers continued to press for the winner but Sime Darby held on to collect their first point of the season.

THE COPS PICK THREE POINTS FROM PERAK

​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: PERAK 1 - PDRM 3

PDRM came back from a goal down to clinch an away win over Perak in Ipoh. The 3-1 win sent The Cops to the second place in the Malaysia Super League.

​Perak took the advantage of playing on their home turf by taking the lead in the 46th minute through Nurridzuan Abu Hassan. However, PDRM showed their true determinations to do well in the Super League.

​​Dramane Toure scored the equalizer just a minute later. It was not enough PDRM, Ahmad Ezrie gave the visitors the lead with a goal in the 55th minute.

Perak could not hold on anymore. They conceded another goal by Dramane Toure five minutes later. It was another sterling performance by Azman Adnan's boys.

JDTII-PKNS DRAW IN PASIR GUDANG

​MALAYSIA PREMIER LEAGUE: JDTII 2 - PKNS 2 

Johor DT II wasted a good opportunity of playing a home match after being held for a draw by PKNS in Pasir Gudang on Friday. The home side were leading 2-0 before losing the cushion in the last eight minutes.

JDT II had all the advantage to take three points from the match. Nicolas Delmonte gave JDT II the lead from a penalty in the 20th minute. The score remained until the break.

​PKNS had some good opportunities but failed to find the net. Shahril Ishak doubled the lead with a goal in the 73rd minute.

As JDT II looked steady to cruise for a home victory, PKNS suddenly staged a late fightback. Gabriel Miguel reduced the deficit when he found the net in the 82nd minute. 

​JDT II tried to hold on, but PKNS fought really hard. They got an equalizer two minutes before the end of regular time through P. Gunalan. Such a good fightback by the visitor and the score remained until the final whistle.

UNDER STRENGTH PAHANG PICKS THREE POINTS IN KUANTAN

​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: PAHANG 2 - SIME DARBY 0

Pahang scored a 2-0 victory against Sime Darby FC at the Darul Makmur Stadium. The Elephants displayed a good performance despite resting a number of important players. Pahang opened the scoring in the 45th minute through Zesh Rehman. The visitor tried to increase their game but Pahang was very steady in midfield and defence. 

​The absence of Dickson Nwakame and Azamudin Akil did not stop Pahang's from giving a good show. R.Gopinath gave Pahang their second goal in the 55th minute. Coach Zainal Abidin Hasan was satisfied with his team performance. It is Pahang's first league win of the season after three winless matches.

JDT BEAT SARAWAK IN LARKIN

​​​​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: JDT 2 - SARAWAK 1

Johor Darul Ta'zim continued their defence of the league title they won last year by beating Sarawak. They secured vital three points after coming from behind to secure a morale-boosting victory over Sarawak on Saturday.

​​​The home side started the game well, but the Crocs kept their defence tight. The visitor were very dangerous on the counter. Billy Mehmet fired home to make it 1-0 midway through the first half.

​JDT fought back for an equaliser. Safiq Rahim gave their fan a big relief as he curled home to make it 1-1. Safiq hits again before Sarawak could recover with a long range effort right before the break.

The second half was a balance contest, both sides had their fair share of opportunities. JDT held on tight to secure the valuable three points.

FELDA UNITED HELD BY LIONS XII

​​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: FELDA UNITED 0 - LIONS XII 0

Super League Leader, Felda United failed to use their home advantage after being held Lions XII to a scoreless draw at the Selayang Stadium on Saturday. The home side took full control of the first half by limiting Lions movements inside Felda's area.

​Ndumba Makeche, Ahmad Syamim and Edward Wilson Jr were in the starting line-up but they failed to find the net despite the team's domination.

Lions came on in the second half with a more organized tactic. They had their best chance came in the 64th minute, but Amri's swerving free-kick was denied by the bar.

​Four minutes later, The Fighters had another good opportunity. Makeche launched a powerful shot but was saved by the outstretched leg of the Lions' goalkeeper.  

Fandi Ahmad would be very satisfied with the result, but for Irfan Bakti it could be considered as a waste of opportunity. Though, Felda United remain on top of Super League despite the frustrating draw.

SELANGOR WIN PENALTY SHOOTOUTS AGAINST FELDA

​MALAYSIA FA CUP: FELDA UNITED 2 - SELANGOR 2
*Selangor win penalty shootouts 4-2

Selangor had to wait until the penalty shootout to get through into the last 16 of the FA Cup. Super League leader Felda United were great fighters and not an easy opponent for the Red Giants.

​Felda took the lead through a Bojan Miladinovic's penalty in the 47th minute and doubled their lead through Ndumba Makeche four minutes later. Ahmad Hazwan Bakri brought Selangor back into the game with a goal in the 78th minute before Guillerme De Paula completed the fight back with the equaliser 10 minutes later.

​The Red Giants were reduced to 10 men in the extra-time when Indonesian winger Andik Vermansyah was shown a red card for stamping on Firdaus Fauzi. Both teams were tied 2-2 in regulation time and nothing changed in extra-time either.

Makeche and Edward Wilson missed from the spot. Only Miladinovic and Shahrulnizam Mustapa scored from the spot for Felda. Selangor's De Paula, Abdul Hadi Yahya, K. Gurusamy and Robert Cornthwaite were all on target in the shootout.

PENANG CHECK-IN FA CUP LAST 16


MALAYSIA FA CUP: PENANG 1 - PERLIS 0

Penang beat Perlis 1-0 to claim a spot in the final 16 of the Malaysia FA Cup. The home side played a good game but failed to find the net in the first half. Perlis defended solidly and both teams went into the break with cleansheets.


​Penang returned for the second half with a little tactical change in their attacking strategy. It finally paid-off when Mohd Faiz Subri broke the duck in the 70th minute.


​Perlis tried harder to find an equalizer, but the Panthers held tight to keep the score. The goal was enough for Penang to cruise into the next round.

SIME DARBY MARCH INTO LAST 16 WITH HUGE WIN

​​​MALAYSIA FA CUP: SIME DARBY 5 - PBAPP FC 1

Sime Darby marched into the next round of the Malaysia FA Cup after thrashing PBAPP FC 5-1 at the Selayang Stadium. Nemanja Vidakovic opened the scoring with a header in the 11th minute. However, PBAPP responded with an equalizer in the 19th minute from Khairzul Azri Jamal Abd. Hashim's freekick.

​Vidakovoc put the home side in front again with another goal in the 23rd minute. Dilshod Sharofetdinov gave Sime Darby strong 3-1 lead at the break with his goal in the 41st minute.

​PBAPP could not stop Sime Darby in the second half. Marko Perovic pulled Sime Darby away with his goal in the 54th minute. And man of the match, Vidakovic completed his hattrick two minutes later.

JDT II SEND PKNS OUT OF FA CUP


MALAYSIA FA CUP: JOHORDT II 2 - PKNS 1

JohorDT II defeated eight-man PKNS 2-1 to set up a meeting with Kedah in the Malaysia FA Cup. Skipper Shahril Ishak was the hero for JDTII as he fired home a 92nd minute winner in a hot-tempered match. Japanese striker Keisuke Ogawa's first-minute goal gave PKNS the lead. JDTII launched continuous attacks but failed to find an equalizer.

JDTII finally drew level through Leandro Velazquez in the 61st minute. PKNS were reduced to 10 men when Muhd Khairul Azrin Khazali was sent off in the 65th minute.

​The Klang Valley outfit suffered more woes after Liberian striker Patrick Ronaldinho and Mohd Fazli Baharuddin were shown the red card deep into extra-time. JDTII took the advantage as Shahril scored the winning goal.

PDRM THRASH SABAH IN SHAH ALAM

MALAYSIA FA CUP: PDRM 3 - SABAH 0

PDRM opened their 2015 FA Cup campaign on a positive note by thrashing Sabah 3-0 at Shah Alam Stadium. The win ensures the Cops a date with Sime Darby in the next stage.

Playing on their home ground, PDRM took the advantage to dominate the first half of the match. They took the lead with good solo effort by Ali Ashfaq in the 27th minute. The Maldives striker was brilliant when he also assisted in PDRM second goal scored by Dramane Traore three minutes later. Sabah sent in El Hadji Diouf in the 42nd minute to strengthen their frontline.

However, Traore added another goal for Azman Adnan's squad when he headed into the net in the 45th minute. Sabah improved in the second half. They created more opportunities but failed to break PDRM.
