LIGA SUPER: JDT 4 - PERAK 1
Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) took back the top spot in the Malaysia Super League after hammering Perak at Larkin Stadium on Tuesday. With just two games left, the Southern Tigers displayed an exceptional performance against their visitors.
Luciano Figueroa open the scoring for JDT with a fine header after receiving Safiq Rahim free-kick in 44th minute. It is his 11th league goal of the season that gave JDT a slim first half lead at the break.
Three minutes after the match resumed, Nazreen Nawi gave JDT their second of the night after his left foot shot flew into the goal post. Thiago Junior pulled one goal back for Perak in 60th minute through a header after receiving Syazwan Roslan corner.
JDT raised the tempo and subtitute S.Chanturu regained the two goal cushion for JDT in the 66th minute. Six minutes later, Safiq Rahim drove JDT into the comfort zone with the fourth goal after receiving a pass from S.Kunalan.
JDT are now leading the title race with 46 points, two above Pahang with one game left to be played. Pahang wasted their opportunity after being held to a draw against Felda United in Kuantan.
