RONALDO DEPARTURE NOT WORRYING UNITED

Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United had done well to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford for as long as they did before finally succumbing to Real Madrid's advances. Ronaldo's desire to leave the reigning three-time Premier League champions had become all too apparent in recent months, and Ferguson insists it was out of the question to expect the player to stay any longer.

Despite Glazer's heavy debt to service, Sir Alex has been assured that he can pursue the likes of Antonio Valencia and Franck Ribery without worrying too much about the cost. The Glazer family spokesman also eplained that the manager is having their full support.
