World Champions Italy were soundly beaten by Brazil in the Confederations Cup on Sunday thanks to three goals in eight first-half minutes. The United States capitalised on Italy's capitulation stunning Egypt by beating them 3-0 to qualify for the event's semi-finals.
Strikes from Luis Fabiano after 37 and 43 minutes and an own goal from Andrea Dossena just before the interval left the holders top of Group B and set up a semi-final against hosts South Africa in Johannesburg on Thursday.
