PIALA MALAYSIA: ATM 2 - JOHOR DT 3
Malaysia Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) made it two wins from two in Group B after a 3-2 victory away to ATM. Fresh from winning their AFC Cup quarterfinal encounter against South China, the Southern Tigers took good control of the match in Paroi.
Marcos Antonio opened the scoring in the 9th minute before Mahali Jasuli added the second for JDT in the 26th minute. The home side tried to fightback into the game but JDT was too good in controlling the game. They held on well until the break with the two goals cushion.
Safiq Rahim did not take long after the restart as he blasted a powerful free kick to beat Syed Adney in the 52nd minute. After leading with three goals, JDT slowed down their tempo and started to rest some players. ATM refused to back-down and gave JDT a lot of problems towards the end.
Two late goals by Abdulafees and Jerry Palacious were not enough to deny a full three points for the visitors. JDT topped the group with six points while ATM are still struggling for the right form.
