AFC CUP FINAL: FC ISTIKLOL 0 - JOHOR DT 1

Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) created history after becoming the first Malaysian team to win an Asian level tournament. The Southern Tigers defeated Tajikistan's FC Istiklol 1-0 in the AFC Cup final at Republic Central Stadium on Saturday.

Leandro Velazquez turned hero for his team by scoring the winning goal. The Argentinian scored a volley after a poor clearance by Istiklol goalkeeper Nikola Stosic from a corner-kick in the 23rd minute.

Istiklol had three goals dissallowed for offside in the 14th, 52nd and 90th minutes by Japanese referee Minoru Tojo. Farizal Marlias played a fantastic game with his saves despite the home side's continuous pressures throughout the 90 minutes.
