PERAK TRIUMPH WITH AWAY WIN

There were nothing much to play for in this last match. ATM looking to avoid lower than fourth in Malaysian Super League, and Perak trying to climb up to seventh. In front of 2000 odd fans, ATM failed to take the advantage of playing at their home ground.

The Gladiators started the match with many missed chances. They had quite a number of opportunities against the unsettled Perak defence. However, after all the missed chances, both team completed the first half without any goal.

As the second half started, Perak seem to be more organized. Goal keeper Farizal Marlias played a marvellous game to deny the ATM attacks.

Perak finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. Paulo Rangel was brought down by ATM Affize Mamat while chasing a through pass. The ATM defender was then sent off by the referee for the foul. As the freekick was taken, another ATM player in the wall blocked the attempt with a hand, and a penalty was given. Rangel converted with ease.

The match ended 1-0 to the visitors, and the loss sees ATM slipping to fifth, a far cry from their best ever position in the league; they were second place just a month ago. Whereas for Perak, this win and PKNS' loss to Pahang meant that they end this year's league in eighth.
