MALAYSIA CUP: PAHANG 2 - FELDA UNITED 3

Felda United stunned FA Cup Champions Pahang 3-2 in Kuantan yesterday. The high flying elephants were having a good run by winning two earlier matches but could not stop Felda United's determinations. The home side broke the dead lock in the 17th minute from Gopi. But Felda United were quick to respond with the equalizer 7 minutes later through their most valuable striker, Edward Jr Wilson.

Pahang were rewarded a penalty just four minutes after the restart.  Mathias Conti did not make any mistake from the spot to put the Elephants in front again. Felda doubled their efforts and charged further into Pahang's area. Edward Jr Wilson found the net again in the 64th minute to make it 2-2.

The Fighters did not go to Kuantan looking for a draw. Shukor Adan turned into captain marvel when he scored the winning goal in the 77th minute. Felda United held tight to secure full points from the match. The win sent them to the top of Group A with 7 points, while Pahang fell to second position after 3 matches.

PENANG EASY PREY FOR JDT

MALAYSIA CUP: PENANG 1 - JDT 3

JDT took full control of the match at the Bandaraya Stadium yesterday and win 3-1 over Penang. Penang looked nervous from the start allowing the visitors to demonstrate a good performance.

National striker Amri Yahyah found the net in the 13th minute to give JDT the lead. His back header from Safiq Rahim's corner beat G. Jeevananthan. Penang did not have the chance to recover as the Southern Tigers got another goal a minute later through Safiq Rahim. Two goals advantage was good enough for JDT to head for the break.

Penang was a little improved in the second half. They are more organized and launching a number of attacks. South Korean Lee Gil Hoon showed an outstanding performance with a number of dangerous attempts. Penang finally got a breakthrough when Gil Hoon found the net after a solo effort in the 65th minute.

As the Penang supporters were hoping for a comeback by the home team, substitute Pereyra Diaz silenced the crowd by scoring JDT's third goal a minute later. It was a very frustrating performance by the Islanders, but Southern Tigers took their opportunities so well.

POLICE SHOT DOWN SELANGOR IN SHAH ALAM

MALAYSIA CUP: SELANGOR 0 – PDRM 2

PDRM have taken a driving seat in group D after grabbing another three full points at Shah Alam Stadium yesterday with a 2-0 win. It was so grateful for The Cops after Selangor were down to 10 men as early in 12^th minutes.

​

The Red Giants skipper Bunyamin Umar was given a marching orders after making a hard tackle against Ali Ashfaq inside the penalty area. The Maldivian ace did well to convert the penalty which give The Cops an early lead.

​

The Red Giants fought back with a strike from Andik Vermansyah and Paulo Rangel but The Cops defended well to block the attempt. Azman Adnan introduced Charles Souza Chad after the break and the Brazilian put Selangor down to earth with his superb shot in 68^th minutes.

Selangor dropped to third place below T-Team after The Titans has overtaking them with a goal different margin after gaining a victory against Sime Darby with 2-1 score at Kuala Terengganu.

TERENGGANU SINKS KEDAH IN ALOR SETAR

MALAYSIA CUP: KEDAH 2 - TERENGGANU 3

Kedah failed to capitalized the advantage of playing on their home pitch as they loss 2-3 to Terengganu. The visitors were more organized at the Darul Aman Stadium got the opening goal through Ashaari Samsuddin just eight minute after the kick-off.

Kedah tried to fight back with some good goal attempts but the finishing was not there. Ashaari doubled Terengganu's advantage in the 45th minute. However, Kedah did not give up and pulled back with a goal from Billy Mehmet a minute later. The home side resumed the second half with stronger determination.

​

After pushing hard with continuous attacks, they finally got an equalizer by skipper Baddrol Bakhtiar. Terengganu awakened by that goal. The Turtle showed their true class and got the winner in the 74th minute through Mario Karlovic. It was very unfortunate for Kedah to let the visitor leaving away with three points.

ATM PICKS ONE POINT FROM JDT

MALAYSIA CUP: JDT 0 – ATM 0

  

At Stadium Tan Sri Dato Haji Hassan Yunus, Larkin, Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) missed the chance to capture three full points after only manage to settle for a 0 – 0 draw with ATM last night which both team had equal opportunities and pressed each other's in search for goals. ATM had some good attempts in the first half after S. Thinagaran and Bruno Martelotto played some good football but failed to find the goal due to poor finishing.

In second half, B. Sathianathan replaced Muhammad Safwan Hasyim with Badrul Hisham Mohd Sufian to overcome JDT continuous attacks. The option paid off which saw the Gladiators has defended very well to deny all the attempts. Mohd Riduwan Maon then replaced by Irwan Fadzli Idrus after the player picked up an injury. ATM added more spark into the frontline by replacing Fabrice Noel with Juan Manual Arostegui in 75th minutes.

It was fortunate for Syed Adney not to receive the marching orders after bringing down Jorge Diaz just a meter from the penalty box in 80th minutes. A free kick taken by Luis Figueroa was well saved by the goal keeper and the Gladiators managed to overcome the threat from JDT until final minutes.

The match has ended with a goalless draw.  The star studded JDT failed to break the experience rich ATM in Johor. JDT stays on top of the group with four points and the Gladiators are still very much in the race at third place.

MALAYSIA CUP: FELDA UNITED 3 - JDTII 2

After a goalless against Lions in Singapore last week, Felda United returned to their home ground to entertain JDTII. Felda started the match comfortably while JDTII struggled to get use on the unfamiliar pitch. The Fighters did not take long to take advantage over the unsettled visitors. Ahmad Syamin cleverly scored from a rebound after ten minutes into the game.

​

Spurred on by the early goal, Felda continued to surge forward for more goals. Edward Wilson showed why he is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Super League when he scored their second in the 30th minute. The fighters were in complete control until the break.

​

However, it was a little different story early in the second half. Zaquan Adha pulled back with a goal just four minutes after the restart. Felda United's defenders were caught napping again in the 54th minute when Syafiq Shahruddin grabbed the equalizer for JDTII. Irfan Bakti was furious with his team for losing their focus.

The Fighters got their objective right again. Sharulnizam Mustafa brilliantly scored the winner for Felda United in the 65th minute. The home side held on until the final whistle. It is a valuable victory for Felda and a second straight loss for JDT II.

ALI, BOBBY SEND PDRM TO THE TOP

MALAYSIA CUP: SIME DARBY 0 - PDRM 3

Premier League champions, Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) opened their Malaysia Cup campaign with a comfortable win over Sime Darby at Selayang Stadium. The 3-0 win shows that the Cops are not affected by the departure of former manager Dollah Salleh.

​

Sime Darby failed to match the 'never-say-die' PDRM players although playing on their own turf. Maldives hotshots, Ali Ashfaq opened the scoring in the 15th minute after receiving a pass from Fauzi Abd Majid.

Sime Darby raised their game and launched a number of attacks. But the PDRM defenders were simply at their best. As the home side was busy looking for an equalizer, Bobby Gonzales doubled PDRM leads with a goal in the 35th minute.

Sime Darby returned for second half in search for goals. However, their fighting spirits were tested again. Referee of the night, Zamzaidi Katimin awarded the visitor a penalty 2 minutes after the restart. And Ali Ashfaq did not make any mistake from the spot to kill Sime Darby hopes for a comeback.

It was a dream start for their newly appointed manager, Azman Adnan who took over the job from Dollah Salleh. The former manager left PDRM to manage Malaysia's national team.

ANDIK, RANGEL GIVE SELANGOR A PERFECT START

MALAYSIA CUP: T-TEAM 1 - SELANGOR 2

 

Selangor traveled to Kuala Terengganu to kick-off their Mission 33 Malaysia Cup campaign. The Red Giants successfully earned their first win against T-Team after a hard fought match. Selangor tried to take control in this away fixture, but the home side was too hard to break.

 

The real excitement finally arrived in the second half. Patrich Wanggai finally found the net four minutes after restart to give T-Team the lead.

Selangor doubled their efforts and piled-up the pressure on the home side. Andik Vermansah grabbed the equalizer in the 51st minute after his strike beat T-Team's goalkeeper. In did not take long for Selangor to add another goal. Just two minutes later, Paulo Rangel found the net again to put Selangor into the driving seat. T-Team tried to fight back, but Mehmet Durakovic's men held on until the end. It was a good start for Selangor in the Malaysia Cup.

PAHANG CRUSH JDT II IN MALAYSIA CUP OPENER

MALAYSIA CUP: PAHANG 4 - JOHOR DTII 0

 

Defending champions Pahang opened their new Malaysia Cup campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory over JDTII. The home side did not take long to open the scoring as Dickson Nwakaeme found the net inside the first five minutes.

 

JDTII were struggling to find the right tune at the Darulmakmur Stadium. Matias Conti doubled the lead with a fine goal in the 38th minutes. Both team headed for the break with Pahang leading with 2 goals.

​

Pahang were in complete control in the second half. Dickson grabbed his second goal of the night as he beat JDTII's goalkeeper again in the 71st minute. It was a hard time for the visitors. Fauzi Roslan put more misery with The Elephants's fourth goal after 2 minutes inside the injury time. The victory gave a perfect tonic to Zainal Abidin's squad to retain the Malaysia Cup.

GLADIATORS HELD BY PENANG IN SELAYANG

MALAYSIA CUP: ATM 1 - PULAU PINANG 1

ATM failed to capitalize their home advantage after being held by Pulau Pinang 1-1 at the Selayang Stadium last night. The Gladiators were unable to find the right rhythm against the Malaysia Cup underdogs.

​

Twenty minutes after the kick-off, ATM finally got a little bit of tune as they started to launch a number of attacks towards the visitors. Their efforts paid off when Hairuddin Omar beat Penang's goalkeeper for the lead in the 26th minutes. Pulau Pinang did not give up. They managed to overcome further threats from ATM. Rafiuddin Roddin grabbed the equalizer one minute before the break after his strike beat Syed Adney.

​

ATM returned to the pitch aiming for a win. However, they were unable to display their real potential. Penang had nothing to lose and took advantage of the under performing opponent.  The visitors almost grab the winner but Rafiuddin's strike hit the bar late into the added time. The match ended 1-1 which could be an important point for the Islanders.

GUNNERS WINS COMMUNITY SHIELD AFTER CRUSHING CITY

COMMUNITY SHIELD: ARSENAL 3 - MAN CITY 0

Arsenal kicked-off their new season with flying colours by overwhelming champions Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday. After ending their title drought with FA Cup success over Hull City last season, Arsene Wenger's side took charge with first-half goals from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey before substitute Olivier Giroud added a glorious long-range third.

New signing Alexis Sanchez was also impressive on a sunny afternoon in northwest London, Arsenal's fans will hope it proves the precursor to a sustained title challenge, after seeing their side fall away last season.

The Gunners opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Jack Wilshere with a left-foot drill. And just before the break Arsenal doubled their lead with a goal of real craft on the counter-attack. Sánchez carried the ball forward and fed Sanogo who produced exactly the right pass inside to Aaron Ramsey, but the Welshman checked his run and smartly chipped the ball on before drilling a shot into the bottom-left corner.

Oliver Giroud wrapped the game in the 60th minute, gathering the ball in the inside-right channel and launching a superb, dipping strike from 25 yards that plunged beneath the crossbar.

The 2014 world cup fever has already passed by a month ago but the spirit off football is still burning for Malaysia football fanS as the nation will experience the Malaysia Cup competition which will kick-off on 13th August 2014.

The Malaysia Cup (Piala Malaysia) is an annual association football tournament in Malaysia. The cup was first held in 1921. The competition is currently played at the end of each year's football season, and is contested by the 16 most successful teams in Malaysia's football league the year.

​ 

Group A can be described as group of death. Defending champion, Pahang will face an uphill task to retain the title after been drawn with last year Super League champions, Lions XII, 2014 FA Cup finalist Felda United and a Premier League outfit JDT II. In Group B, Terengganu are with Sarawak, Kedah and Perak which saw all of the team have an equal chance to move to the next level.

 

While in Group C, it could be an easy task for 2014 Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim after being drawn with Last year Malaysia Cup finalist Kelantan, ATM and Premier League outfit Penang. Group D, 32 times Malaysia Cup Champion, Selangor has been drawn with 2014 Premier League Champions PDRM, Sime Darby and T-Team.

MARIO GOTZE STUNNER WINS FOURTH WORLD CUP FOR GERMANY

WORLD CUP FINAL: ARGENTINA 0(0) - GERMANY 0(1) AET

Germany finally won the World Cup for the fourth time in a dramatic way after beating Argentina 1-0 score in a high octane match, at the Maracana Stadium. Fresh from beating Brazil with 7-1 score last Wednesday, The Germans showed to the world that they are the new King of of football and Joachim Low have answered his critics by becoming the first man to lead a European team to win the World Cup glory on South American soil.

Argentina should have had an early goal but Gonzalo Higuain blew the chance away after the striker shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat. A few minutes later, he tapped in Ezequiel Lavezzi's cross but was unfortunate to be caught offside. Then, Lionel Messi sent the ball past Neuer, but Jerome Boateng cleared the ball away.

After the restart, Messi threatened the Germany defense again, but his shot went wide. Miroslav Klose record-breaking career ended when he was substituted the 88th minute by Mario Gotze. A minute later, Gotze had a chance to end the game early but his shot went into Sergio Romero's arm and the referee ended the 90 minutes play without any score.

The additional extra time begins with Thomas Muller returned Andre Schurrle pass and he fired a strong half-volleyed drive which Romero did well to parry the ball. Argentina had their big chance when Matt Hummels failed to clear the cross but Palacio lob just went over the crossbar. As the game looks to end with a penalty shoot-out, Mario Gotze brilliantly chested down Andre Schurrle's superb cross and volleyed home to cap a historic victory for the jubilant Germans in the 113th minutes.

ARGENTINA WINS SHOOTOUT TO ADVANCE TO WORLD CUP FINAL

WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL: ARGENTINA 0(4) - NETHERLANDS 0(2)

Argentina scored all four penalty kicks in a shootout against the Netherlands on Wednesday in São Paulo to advance to the World Cup final for the first time since 1990. Lionel Messi made the first and his teammates Ezequiel Garay, Sergio Aguero and Maxi Rodriguez followed suit to earn Argentina a date with Germany in Sunday's final in Rio de Janeiro. The Netherlands missed two of their first three attempts, with first Ron Vlaar and then Wesley Sneijder seeing their shots saved by Argentina's goalkeeper, Sergio Romero.

After 120 minutes of scoreless exasperation in a World Cup semifinal on Wednesday that was by turns tense, cautious, clumsy, gripping and stubbornly unyielding. There was little space to move, few chances to score. Sometimes the match was as dreary as the misty evening chill. If it possessed any beauty, it was not in gracefulness but in stark, struggling exertion.

Sergio Romero, Argentina's goalkeeper, was poised in the shootout, unsettling the Dutch on the very first kick. He dived to his left, parried a shot by defender Ron Vlaar and kissed his gloves. Later, Romero repelled a shot by Wesley Sneijder and pounded his chest. And finally, Argentina defeated the Netherlands by 4-2 on penalty kicks and advanced to Sunday's final against Germany.

WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL: BRAZIL 1 - GERMANY 7

Germany ended Brazil's World Cup dreams in a brutal fashion after a 7-1 humiliation. A stunning performance from Germany and a disgracefully amateur turn from Brazil led to a historic result in the World Cup semifinal at Belo Horizonte. Brazil's players mourned the absence of the injured Neymar before kick-off, but captain Thiago Silva was an even bigger loss. The result was their first competitive home defeat in 39 years, and the end of their hopes of making it to the World Cup final at the iconic Maracana on Sunday.

Thomas Muller gave the three-time winners an early lead before a period of utter chaos saw Miroslav Klose break the World Cup scoring record, Toni Kroos add two more in the space of 179 seconds and Sami Khedira net a fifth. Chelsea striker Andre Schurrle, on as a substitute, added two more after the break before Brazil's followers delivered what must be regarded as the defining insult to their national team.

Thousands of Brazil supporters were reduced to tears just after less than 30 minutes, and reduced to such a state of shock that it was only at half-time that they registered their first serious dissent. The score equalled Brazil's heaviest margin of defeat, a 6-0 loss at the hands of Uruguay in the 1920 Copa America, but the impact of this reverse, not just on the world stage but in their homeland, will put this alongside the 1950 World Cup final defeat by the Uruguayans in Rio as their darkest football day.

Luiz Felipe Scolari's side crumbled in the space of seven minutes is likely to be a matter of national debate in this country for years to come. This was Brazil's first defeat at home for 12 years. The loss for a country built on sporting pride, and at their own World Cup, will be bad enough to take. The scale of defeat will take the inquests to a new level. This was the first time a team had scored seven in a World Cup semi-final, and the biggest defeat in one of these games, beating West Germany's 6-1 victory over Austria in 1954.

JDT ENDS TITLE DRAUGHT WITH SUPER LEAGUE WIN

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SARAWAK 0 - JDT 1

 

Star-studded Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) clinched the coveted Super League title in style by beating Sarawak 1-0 at the State Stadium in Kuching. Matches played were the final fixtures in the 2014 Super League season which came to a close last night.

JDT who finished with 44 points pocketed RM500,000 while second placed Selangor accumulated 41 points while Pahang with 37 points finished third.  Selangor finished as the runner-up after managing only a 2-2 draw against relegated PKNS FC at the Shah Alam Stadium. Argentina import Jorge Pereyra Diaz was the toast of JDT after squeezing in the winner in the 66th.

Apart from winning the Super League title, JDT also earned a ticket to play in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC Cup) for the second time after 2009.
