RANGEL SENDS RED GIANTS TO THE TOP

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SELANGOR 1 – PAHANG 0

After getting a disappointing result at Jalan Besar Stadium last Saturday, the Red Giants returned in style by defeating Malaysia Cup winner, Pahang at MBPJ Stadium yesterday.

It was Pahang who dominated the game in first half. After having an opportunity in the 7th minute, a powerful shot from Azammudin Akil was disallowed by the referee because he was already in offside position.

Selangor came back stronger in the second half. A free kick by Junior Da Silva in 56th minute was perfect for the Red Giants ace, Paulo Rangel to send a powerful header into the corner of the goal which has left Khairul Azhan well beaten.

Pahang tried to regain their tempo in search for an equalizer. However, it was clear that the current Selangor team is having better defensive quality under manager Mehmet Durokovic.

Selangor move to the top of the table after getting their second win from three matches played, while Pahang is struggling with a low form with the second defeat in a row this season.

RANGEL SENDS SELANGOR TO A FLYING START

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SELANGOR 2 - T-TEAM 0

Selangor new signings have shown a promising display at the start of the new season as they defeated T-Team 2-0 at Kelana Jaya Stadium today. Paulo Rangel's double was enough to give Mehmed Durakovic a dream start since his return to Selangor.

The Brazilian striker was a very dangerous person inside the T-Team area right from the kick-off. Rangel could have scored more goals if not for the outstanding saves by Muhammad Hazwan in the first half. However, the former Perak player finally found the net in the 64th minute. And just seven minutes later, Rangel scored his second for his new club.

T-Team pressed Selangor in the last 10 minutes, but the Red Giants held on tight to keep the score until the end. Selangor finished runner-up last season with many new signings in this year's squad. Despite the major changes, the team looked very good for the title challenge.
